What You Need To Know About The New Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

If you're into reading patterns like myself, then you are sharp and self aware in your on environment. Now I know what you're asking me this, what the hell am I talking about? I'm talking about how it seems Samsung every year around this time always unveils their new Galaxy S series smartphones. Well it seems Samsung has stuck to the pattern of unveiling a new smartphone in March as they take the bed sheets off of the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. From all the reports and data I've gathered, here's what you need to know about these two new devices.

There is some added and subtracted features  in the new Samsung Galaxy S6 series in both design and hardware. First the design, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 no longer has the fake leather or plastic in the rear portion of the smartphone. The smartphone is dressed partly in sharp metal lines with an all glass front.

The two smartphones the S6 and S6 Edge are pretty much identical, they both will operate on the Android 5.0 Lollipop platform with a 5.1-inch high resolution AMOLED display that will measure in at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, a 577 ppi density, making this the brightest and best display on the market.

Now about that additions and subtractions, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will no longer rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, instead it will use its own chipset the Exynos processor ( no reports as to why Samsung went with this decision). Samsung Galaxy smartphones owners long boasted how they can detach the battery from their devices and go with a bigger and better battery for long lasting power, well that is no longer the case as the S6 devices will have an embedded battery,Samsung claims that the trade off is larger battery with extended power.

Then we have no SD card, yes you read it correctly, there is no longer present an SD card, something Samsung Galaxy owners have enjoyed since the smartphones inception, again there is a trade off with increased external storage up to 32GB, with an option 64GB and 128GB. Now here's something that's a bit lame but I will report it anyway,as a bonus Samsung will throw in 115GB of free Microsoft OneDrive storage for two years. If you're a big on using cloud based services(which I'm not but I digress), then this is a good offering from Samsung.

Now for the noted additions if I haven't covered them already, there will be a Camera Quick Launch feature where all the user has to do to quickly launch the camera is click on the home button which launches in just under 1 second. The same home button is now equipped with a Smarter fingerprint scanning the user simply rest the finger on the button much like what you have with the current iPhone's. No loner will user have to slide their finger on the home button to scan fingerprints, which often times it was rather unresponsive.

The S6 and S6 will now have built-in Wireless charging using WPC and PMA standards. This a feature I wish Apple would use in their iPhone's,Apple I do hope you're taking notes. Anyway,Samsung will for a price distribute their own charging pads, the S6 on the other hand will be compatible with other chargers. Samsung claims the smartphones will be able to cap up to 20 percent battery power in just over an half hour.  The Quick-charging  adds fast charging feature is supported by the Exynos chip. Samsung claims this will give users a 30 percent charge time in about 30 minutes.

Now for the subtraction again, unlike the Galaxy S5, the S6 will not be waterproof, there are rumors floating around that some other variant will get the waterproof toughness that will be released later on in the year.

If you're going to write a " need to know" blog about any Samsung smartphone then I must for the sake of interest talk about the camera, which by the way will have a  16 megapixel front, 5 megapixel back. The S6 and S6 Edge will include optical image stabilization, making it second to the Note-4 to have such technology.

Good news, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will no longer be saturated with Touch Wiz,well sort of. Both smartphones will come shipped with Google's own latest mobile OS Android 5.0 Lollipop, with a refreshed version of the famous Touch-Wiz interface with fewer preloaded software.

Those are just of the more important features you need to know about the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. There is no definitive pricing as of yet,its release date pending changes from Samsung will be April 10th. All the usual suspected carriers such as AT$T,Sprint,T-Mobile and Verizon will of course handle the US market as well as Cricket and US Cellular.

As things develop,I will post a quick follow up once pricing is posted by Samsung.
