What Are The Reviews Saying About Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

I have seen the reviews for the highly anticipated game of 2025, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. The latest release from Hideo Kojima is being hailed by many as their best work and a strong contender for Game of the Year. Currently, the game holds a 90 on Metacritic, indicating a very positive reception. Numerous publications are awarding it nearly perfect scores, reflecting its quality and appeal. Overall, the game's reception suggests it is a significant achievement in the gaming industry.

The reviewers emphasize the game's emotional storytelling, stunning visuals, expanded gameplay, and impeccable visuals. Visual Gaming Chronicles ( VGC) called the game "an all-time great sequel," while The Guardian praised the game for its message of human connection in the face of isolation. Digital Trends ( one of my favorite publications) notes the game's introspective tone, saying it questions whether the benefits of togetherness outweigh the vulnerabilities it brings.

When it comes to gameplay, many are saying it builds on the original's delivery mechanics with more dynamic environments, enhanced traversal tools, and a deeper sense of community, thanks to player-shared structure and signs. The emotional weight is also dialed up, with Sam's relationship with Lou ( one of the game's lead characters) taking center stage.

With that said, like most of Kojima's games, it has a peculiar theme and may not be for everyone. But if you played the first game and enjoyed its narrative-heavy experiences, you will definitely appreciate this sequel.
