The latest release from Hideo Kojima is being hailed by many as their best work and a strong contender for Game of the Year. Currently, the game holds a 90 on Metacritic, indicating a very positive reception. Numerous publications are awarding it nearly perfect scores, reflecting its quality and appeal. Overall, the game's reception suggests it is a significant achievement in the gaming industry.
The reviewers emphasize the game's emotional storytelling, stunning visuals, expanded gameplay, and impeccable visuals. Visual Gaming Chronicles ( VGC) called the game "an all-time great sequel," while The Guardian praised the game for its message of human connection in the face of isolation. Digital Trends ( one of my favorite publications) notes the game's introspective tone, saying it questions whether the benefits of togetherness outweigh the vulnerabilities it brings.
