In Other News: Thieves Make Off With NVIDIA Hardware Worth $11.4 Million

Right before the release of GTA 6, NVIDIA suffered a massive hardware theft. According to reports, law enforcement officials in Northern California are investigating a multi-million-dollar cargo theft after six pallets of NVIDIA computer hardware—valued at roughly $11.4 million—disappeared during transport.

The shipment left Oakland, California, on August 29 and was headed to a facility in Fort Worth, Texas. A commercial truck bearing a food transportation company logo picked it up, and no one raised red flags at the loading dock.

However, the actual cargo never reached its destination in Texas. Investigators tracked the vehicle's route and discovered it made multiple stops across California before dropping off the grid in San Bernardino County. The Oakland Police Department filed a formal grand theft report on September 13.

Authorities have disclosed the specific hardware models in the cargo. The pallets carry a high value of $11.4 million, averaging about $1.9 million per pallet. According to an industry expert, they suspect the freight likely consisted of high-end AI data center accelerators or enterprise server racks rather than the standard consumer-grade graphics cards.

As global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure surges, organized crime rings have made enterprise-grade semiconductors a top target. No arrests have been announced, and investigations remain ongoing.
