File-it-Under: Yet another tablet!~
The Kindle Fire which was introduced today by of course Amazon, enters a already over crowded market of tablets.Where other tablets have failed in terms of trying to knock the iPad off its throne,I think Amazon might succeed thanks part to the price of the Kindle Fire which will go for $199, which definitely under cuts Apple.I posted on Twitter yesterday that this tablet will do well because the Kindle already has a huge loyal following, now you'er instituting a tablet with a better display and reading materials in color. Without all the ramble lets cut to the chase and get to the hardware software specification.
The Kindle Fire will use a 7-inch IPS panel,Gorilla Glass coating which will make the display panel very sturdy,a 1GHz TI OMAP dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage ( no SD card reader),the chassis will weigh 14.6 ounces.Onto the software front, the Kindle Fire will run on Google's Android Gingerbread though the platform is somewhat invisible covered in a Nook like color, the platform puts a greater emphasis on apps with a dedicated Android Appstore.
Amazon will use a fast web browsing system with "Amazon Silk" a system that will use Amazon EC2 which will speed up webpage delivery. If you ever used Opera mobile web browser you'll know that this style of optimization is already being used, only thing is Amazon will have it built right into its tablet browser.
Back to the hardware side, the tablet will have a USB 2.0 (micro-B), 3.5mm audio,802.11n WiFi connectivity, battery life that will support 8hours of reading,7hours video playback, will support all the major media formats, the main ones being MP3,MP4,JPEG .
Finally,I think the Amazon Kindle Fire will do well,as I mention before the Kindle already has a huge following, plus its $300 cheaper that WiFi only iPad,just a thought.
