File-It-Under: Generation Tablets!~
This week prior,Motorola took the wraps off its newest tablet models-Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 media edition. Both these Motorola tablets will run on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system( what? no Ice Cream Sandwich?).The one thing you'll notice with next generation Xoom is the design, the dimensions of these tablets are much smaller, lighter and thinner, yet still has the hardware power of the first generation Xoom. Both models come stoked with impressive hardware,TI Omap 1.2 GHz dual-core processor 1GB of external memory, additional 16GB storage capacity,it offers 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera and a 5.0 mega pixel back camera. As I stated before, that the new generation Xoom dimensions are much thinner and lighter, a 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 IPS display screen(huge upgrade from the first generation Xoom),0.32 inches in thickness,1.32 pounds in weight.
Probably the most impressive part of the Motorola Xoom 2 tablets is not in the hardware but in its externals,it has a water proof splash guard coating and comes with the famed Gorilla Glass display which is resistance to scratches.Seems like you'll get some excellent battery power also,10 + hours of web usage and around 1 month standby.
Both the UK and Ireland will get first dibs at the Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Xoom 2 media edition, price point will start at $545 US dollars. No word on a US launch,I'm guessing it'll likely be in 2012.As the Xoom 2 absorbs itself in the Euro-market look out for more details on both these products.
Failed Goof Up: I forgot to mention that both the Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 media edition are WiFi only
