This week,VIA technologies announced  to the world that its embedded x86 motherboards and processors will give way to Android support.Usually x86 processors like AMD and Intel are always supported by Windows and Apple( Intel) systems.Since Android is pushing its way into being the dominate open source platform, now would be the time for a major chip manufacturer like VIA to hop aboard the Android operating system. Presently,VIA will be supporting Android on their EITX-3002 platform, embedded x86 systems running Android will have the capability to play back 1080p video.

The specs on the EITX-3002 motherboard will be based on the Em-ITX form factor,it will be fitted with a 1.2 GHz VIA Nano X2 E-Series or a 1.0 GHz Eden X2 dual-core processor. The motherboard will have a VIA VX900 MSP co-processor that will be located on the underside of the motherboard, the co-processor will  decode HD video thanks in part to its hardware acceleration that'll support two independent display output that'll have two separate displays at a very high 1920 x 1080 resolution.There's a fanless enclosure that can be used for a low power setup, have a rear I/O that'll include HDMI,VGA,two Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 2.0,four USB 3.0 and audio jacks. The VIA embedded system will not only be geared towards Android,it'll also support Windows 7,XP,Debian Linux, and Android 2.2 operating systems

Expect to see environmental home systems via touch screen take of advantage of this embedded enabled setup. As I'm writing this entry a thought came to my mind, could we see the beginning of custom build touch screen systems made from this type of embedded system. On the bottom of this entry, check out the video demo of the Android OS VIA system in actual working progress.
