The Asus Zenbook UX32VD Ultrabook,Lets Take A Look At It.

File-It-Under: Thin laptops!~

What do you do when you come across a Windows based Ultrabook that has the world's first discrete graphics, you post it on this site of course. The Asus Zenbook UX32VD Ultrabook has the honor of being profiled in this entry, this is probably the best Ultrabook on the market that gives serious competition to the Macbook Air.If you want a Ultrabook that's not from a company name Apple, then this is the machine to get.Other than the sleek thin build of the ultrabook, the Asus Zenbook UX32VD comes stocked with some pretty unique features.

Hardware and Specs

For starters, the Zenbook gives you the honor in having both the spinning drive to store content paired with a SSD for cache,I'm guessing this type of storage setup is one of a kind.Lets talk hardware specs shall we,you have the option in going with the high end hardware specs or low end, since we are talking hardware specs, lets profile the high end model. It comes with an Intel Core i7 3517U  processor with speeds capping out at 1.9GHz with a turbo boost up to 3.0GHz, 4GB  DDR3  1600MHz RAM.On the video front,it comes with a Nvidia GeForce GT620M with the latest Intel HD 4000 graphic technology, with CUDA and PhysX support. As I mentioned before the Asus Zenbook has two different types of hard drives, one for storage, the other for cache, this particular Ultrabook has a 500GB s 5400 RPM hard drive paired with a 24GB SSD for caching. On the connection front, it has the Intel Centrino Advanced -N6235 802.11 a/b/c/g/n dual band wireless connectivity, supports the Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR,there is no Ethernet port available on the Asus Zenbook, instead it comes with an accessorized USB fast Ethernet adapter. It has 3 USB 3.0 ports (no USB 2.0 ports available), a Micro-HDMI port and a Mini-VGA port. You have the option to expand your memory with an SD memory card.On the sound front present is two stereo speakers,a built in microphone, Asus Bang and Olufesen ICEpower featured audio. The Asus Zenbook has a built-in 48Whr 6 cell battery that has up to 7 hours of usage with an 10 day standby time, its powered with an 65W AC adapter, the built in webcam is HD at 720p.

The design of the Asus  ZenBook is rather unique yet different from the Macbook Air, its very slim at 0.22 inches thickness in the back to only 0.7 inches thick in the front of the ultrabook,it has a aluminum dominated outer shell. The keyboard on the Ultrabook has followed the path of many other laptop manufactures by instituting an chic o lit style back light keyboard, the 13.3 inch display comes with a native 1366 x 768 resolution.

Bottom line

This is no ordinary Ultrabook,I mean in my opinion its better than the MacBook Air in terms of hardware and featuers. Clearly the Asus Zenbook UX32VD isn't just built to just surf the world wide web,it can handle some pretty strong intense application, gaming and multimedia operations, something clearly not seen in most ultrabooks on the market.Price on the Asus Zenbook comes close to the Macbook Air at $1300 (on the high end version this) . With the added power, high performance with some pretty cool features, the $1300 price ta is justified.
