File-it-Under: Devices gone hybrid!~ By: D.F.Skinner
Is it A: a smartphone,is it B: a tablet, or is it C: all the above, well if you guessed choice "a" you are wrong its both. The new Asus PadFone has been introduced yesterday and I must say I'm rather amazed at this device.Amazed at he design, and amazed at how Asus were able to pull off such a engineering feat.Of course this is not Asus first launching of this hybrid device, the original PadFone was release to market just six months ago.The new and improved PadFone adds more dimensions to its screen,at half of an inch to be exact, there are also changes in its display technology from Super AMOLED to Super IPS+LCD/LED.
The hardware inside the PadFone also get updated, the RAM inside get boosted to 2GB,the processor doubles from a dual core to a quad yet still maintaining its CPU speed at 1.5 GHz.The camera on the PadFone also gets a upgrade from 8 megapixels to 13 megapixels. The camera will be able to take 1080p video at 30fps or 720p video at 60fps. The battery is 2140mAh and will be rated for 13 hours of Wi-Fi usage. When connected to the tablet dock the phone will have access to 5000mAh battery, there is no disclosed numbers as to how many hours of battery usage, but I'm sure the numbers doubles the 13 hours of Wi-Fi usage. In case you wondering what is the size of the tablet dock its 10.1 inches.
The Asus PadFone is set to launch in 19 countries across Europe and Asia, with other countries to be announce later on this year.
Edit Update: In case you're wondering details of the processor and storage its a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with a 64GB f storage.
