File-It-Under: Cooing Hardware By: D.F.Skinner!~
Every time I wonder onto a tech website or read a PC magazine I see CPU coolers getting larger and weird looking.Case in point, just take a look at the Silverstone Heligon HE01 CPU cooler in the picture above this entry.Yes insanely large and weird looking but not lacking in features,it has a super thick 14cm fan that you can place over an asymmetrical aluminum coolers. The fan features a 4-pin plug with PWM( Pule Width Modulation) functionality,as well as a easily access switch that has a Q-P label which stands for Quiet and Performance modes. The fan itself blows air through the aluminum fins that is attached to six copper pipes that snakes into a copper base, the plate itself is encased in nickel plate.
Probably the one negative drawback with the Silverstone Heligon its girth will interfere with your ability to install other hardware, it requires builders to not have any RAM with tall heat spreaders. In all, judging from the writes up on the Heligon its pretty decent cooler, nothing real fancy or ground breaking, most CPU coolers with this type of girth are usually pretty decent CPU coolers. If you're wondering about the price, its listed at $79 on silverstonetek websites.
A quick update, you can also purchase the Silverstone Heligon on New Egg's website for $ 5 less at $74.
