File-It-Under: Hybrid devices By: D.F.Skinner
When I read about the Galaxy Note 8.0 unveiled at the Mobile World Trade Show that's taking place in Barcelona Spain, the first thing I said to myself was, "Are people really going to hold a 8-inch tablet to their ear?" then when I read further along I said to myself this mobile device is a beast, and don't be surprise if this tablet or smartphone,oh hell, lets call it a Phablet is in my hands this year when it comes to the US. The question I'm asking myself is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 a bit overkill? Well lets take a look at the specs and features shall we.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 like its cousin the Galaxy Note comes stocked with some pretty intense hardware but standard for most high end smartphones (tablet),it sports a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor,2GB of memory,a long lasting 4,600 mAh battery,a GPS,Bluetooth 4.0 and a 8-inch HD display that has 189 pixel per inch which is very minor compared to devices that have an HD retina display. As for the dimension,The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 you already know it is 8-inches in length and weighs just 338g,in fact most who have held the Galaxy Note 8.0 are surprised at the lightness in the device. On the software side,The Galaxy Note 8.0 will run stock Android 4.1.2 packing Jelly Bean. The main feature of the Galaxy Note 8.0 is of course the Stylus pen which to my surprise serve a purpose for many who already own the Samsung Galaxy Note.
So with all the features and specs that I mentioned, the question I'm asking myself and the readers is a tablet with the ability to make phone calls that a has a Stylus Pen a bit of a overkill? If you ask me I say yes,but in my opinion its overkill with some very useful features and this will shock you,I can see myself putting the Stylus Pen to full use, this is coming from a guy who hated the stylus pen on the old Palm Pilot.
If you're interested in owning a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 like myself,we are out of luck because Europe in particularly the UK will get first dibs on the device once it hits the market, the US will probably get late 2013.
