File-It-Under: Mobile Tech By: D.F.Skinner!~
What began as a hot rumor rapidly turn to reality yesterday when Nokia released to the public the new Nokia Lumia 1020.It wasn't to long ago (Last week to be exact) we all were viewing rendered photo's possible specs of the smartphone which was shown on various tech sites throughout the world wide web. Well the smartphone has come upon us and staying true to hot rumors, the Nokia 1020 does indeed have a 41 megapixel embedded camera.Let me repeat this again,a whopping 41 megapixel camera, which is by far the star of the show on this mobile device.
Aside from the camera
Though I've never been a sole owner of a Nokia Lumia I'm very intrigue with the overall unibody of the smartphone. With the Lumia 1020 it has stuck to its design roots with its signature molded high quality polycarbonate encasing,it also has stuck to its original matte white, black, and yellow color scheme. What stands out on the Lumia 1020 is the smartphones camera which is placed right in the middle of the device and is very enormous, very very enormous (More on the camera in a few).
Just like its brethren the Nokia Lumia 920,the 1020 has its familiar 4.5-inch AMOLED HD display with an 1,280 x 768 pixel count, a 16:9 aspect ratio.Nokia signature "Clear Black" filter lies right on the very top of the smartphone, cutting down the amount of outdoor glare which can distort images to the naked eyes.Along with the new Lumia filter guard, the 1020 has a super sensitive touch screen which allows users to operate the smartphone with either fingertips or gloved hands. The top portion of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is covered with the famed Gorilla Glass 3 which you know is resistance to scratches and cracks.
The hardware specs of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is similiar to what you'll see in any high end smartphone,it runs a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, it has a hefty 32GB of internal memory (Internal Memory is a fancy name for solid state storage drive), it comes added on an extra 7GB of SkyDrive storage courtesy of Microsoft.
That Camera though
The ultimate focal star feature on the Nokia Lumia 1020 is its camera which as mentioned before has an amazing 41 megapixels, that's more pixels you'll see in most high-end DSLR cameras.Aside from the insane dosage of pixels, the Lumia 1020 is paired with a ultralarge camera senor that has Nokia's own PureView image processing software. The smartphones camera is embedded with six-lens Carl Zeiss optics which has the ability to take wide angle photos. The camera has a high-resolution 3X zoom, auto-focus ( you can also manually focus) and a dual-flash system. There's a smaller LED flash which coincides with a larger Xenon flash as seen on the Verizon's Lumia 928.The enite shooter has the ability to capture 1080p HD video measured at 30 frame rate per second. All in all you have a beast of a camera on the Nokia Lumia 1020 that can take pictures in low light environment.
With the 41-megapixel camera put in place, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is the definite wow factor, which shows that Nokia is stepping up its game in a very competitive smartphone market. But the price? At $300 is a bit stretch for a starting asking price. That means if you're not upgrading under contract I estimate you'll be paying $700 without a contract,Ouch! Either way, Nokia is rolling the dice and hoping that consumers will be enticed by the 41-megapixel camera. What about you, will the 41-megapixel on the Nokia Lumia be enough to entice your money from your pockets?
