File-it-Under: Software leaks By: D.F.Skin
The heavily anticipated Windows 8.1 update which is schedule to be released in the Spring was accidentally OOPS!!leaked online from the tech titan themselves Microsoft. There is a proverbial catch to this whole leakage thing that's going on,more on that later. According to ZDNet,you can use a direct link or make a couple of adjustments to the operating systems registry which allows the update to come up in your Windows schedule Update, this of enables users to snag the new version of Windows 8.1 early. Now at this very moment the update only available in a RTM (Release to Manufacturing) format.
The "there is a catch factor to this" is the update was only successfully installed on a Surface Pro tablet, it failed to run on a desktop PC running Windows 8.1 Enterprise Edition. Microsoft counteracts this by making adjustments to the flaw that allowed Windows Update availability and killed the whole direct download link since this story has gone viral online.
Could this whole Windows 8.1 leakage be a marketing ploy from the tech titan themselves? Funny how this leak takes place right on the heels of its Spring release. Makes you wonder huh? Stay tune.
