The Review: Anker 735 3-Port (Nano II 65W) Charger

If you have been a frequent follower of this website and have read most of the published articles, you know I'm a big fan of Anker’s devices, which have earned positive reviews from consumers and me alike. With that said, I just purchased what I consider a dream charger: one brick (charging brick, that is) that can charge multiple devices. Ladies and gentlemen, I am introducing the Anker 735 65W 3-port foldable charger (the Nano II 735), designed to be the only charger you'll need to power up multiple devices while on the go, including MacBook, iPhone, and Samsung smartphones. After using the device for the past two weeks, it's clear that the Anker 735 is definitely a powerhouse. However, a few details need to be outlined in this review.

The Portable Design

The GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology is part of the reason why the charger is small, roughly the size of an AirPod Pro case. In comparison, it's significantly smaller than the standard 61W charger that comes with the current-gen MacBook product line. The foldable prongs are a game-changer for me; I no longer have to worry about scratched devices in my backpack. When it comes to build quality, the Anker 735 65W charger feels sturdy and dense, which is a good thing. It has a premium matte finish that is highly resistant to oily smudges and fingerprints, and, shockingly, survived several drops.

The Power in the Performance

The Anker 735 charger delivers plenty of power, with a maximum of 65W. The brick is quite capable of charging larger devices, such as the 13-inch MacBook Air and the Dell XPS 13. However, by far the most important part of this review is how well the power is divided among the three ports.

Each port is USB-C and delivers the full 65W. Not only will you be able to fast-charge a Galaxy S series smartphone, but you can also fast-charge a full-size MacBook. In my initial test, I was able to fully charge my Samsung S25 Ultra from 30% battery level in over 40 minutes. With my iPad Air, I was able to fully charge it from 20% battery level in over 50 minutes. It's worth noting that I used an Anker 4-ft 2-in-1 USB-C-to-USB-C 140W cable, which definitely helps fast-charge the device.

The Multi-Port of Madness ( The Caveat)

When using the Anker 735 charger, there is a caveat. Firstly, when you plug multiple devices into the charger, the 65W of power is actually split. The two USB-C Power Delivery ports are rated at 45W and 20W, which is ideal for simultaneous charging of the laptop and a smartphone. When all three ports are in use, the top port remains at 40W, while the bottom two ports each have 12W of power remaining.

The Good, the Bad, the Charger

Let me address several good things about the Anker 735 charger. Firstly, you don't need three separate charging bricks if you're bringing along multiple devices. The charger is equipped with a PPS (Programmable Power Supply), meaning it works perfectly with Samsung's "Super Fast Charging" devices. The charging brick stays relatively cool, even under heavy charging loads. It rarely gets noticeably hot, which is a testament to GaN II technology and its efficiency.

Then there is the bad: because the Anker 735 charging brick is long and narrow, it tends to sag or fall out of an outlet if it's not firmly inserted. If you decide to purchase this device, firmly plug it into the outlet. But wait, there's more "bad" about this charging brick. The "Handshake" pause occurs when you plug in multiple devices; the charger will briefly stop delivering power to all ports to "re-negotiate" how much power to send to each port. This explains why when I charge both my tablet and smartphone simultaneously, the charging cycle is a bit slow. So if you see your laptop flickering on and off during charging, it's OK to be annoyed, because I sure was agitated.

So, here's My Verdict

So my three-week-old Anker 735 charger is definitely the ideal modern device for the traveling gadget user. Perfect for smartphone, tablet, and laptop users who don't want to carry multiple charging bricks, which can be cumbersome. Aside from some issues with how 65W of power is split when multiple devices are charging, the Anker does a decent job of fast-charging devices. It’s worth noting that the Anker 735 65W 3-port charger currently retails for $29.99 on Amazon.
