My Top Five UltraBooks Not Made By Apple

Its safe to say that Apple are the innovators of the Ultra thin laptop. When the tech titan out of Cupertino CA. first introduced the world the first Ultrabook circa 2008, the Macbook Air, it changed some things. It change the way laptop manufacturers should make laptops. Its quite OK  have a sleekly design, compactly thin a laptop and not sacrifice good hardware.

Ultrabooks these days are plentiful some besting Apples own Ultrabooks ( Macbook Air and Macbook) , but there is five that really has caught my interest that's not manufactured by Apple, and they are.......

HP Spectre

Officially the worlds thinnest laptop measuring in at 10.4cm, thinner than the current Apple Macbook. Unlike Apple's Macbook, the Spectre 13 it is not short on having decent hardware crammed in such a compactly thin body. Beautifully crafted out of aluminum and carbon fiber adding structural sturdiness to the laptop. In case you're wondering about the spec sheet in this razor thin device, here it is; the latest 6th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, PCIe based storage up to 512GB, 8GB of RAM. As an added bonus there is not one but three USB Type-C ports.

Deal breaker feature?

Three USB Type-C ports, enough said.

Lenovo Yoga 900

Another solidly constructed laptop that's encased in aluminum and like the prior laptop I just discussed above this passage, its razor thin. You see the similarities here? Thin sharp design which also has great hardware inside. Unique is its watchband style hinge enabling users to easily morph the laptop into a tablet. About that hardware, its packing 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-6500U.

Deal breaking feature?

Other than its fully loaded hardware, got to love the watchband hinge.

Dell XPS 13

There are four different versions of the XPS 13, but to fit this particular laptop on my top five list we'll go XPS Touch which is tops in the XPS 13 product line with hardware that includes 6th generation Intel Core i7-6560U 3.2GHz processor, Quad HD+ InfinityEdge. Out of all the laptops on this list, this is the one that impresses me the most. Why? Because of its stunning bezel-less display giving you enough viewing real estate and as an added bonus it has a very crispy (3200 x 1800) display.

Deal breaking feature?

That super thin bezel though.

Surface Book

Arguably in my opinion the perfect hybrid device (laptop/tablet), its also the most powerful and thinnest Windows PC in the game. Just take a peep at its specs, its rocking a Nvidia GeForce discrete graphics, 256GB PCIe3.0 SSD, Intel  6th generation Core i5-6300U. You get all of this in such a thin uni body.

Deal breaking feature?

The Nvidia GeForce discrete graphics, seamless tablet separation.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

There is nothing about the Levono ThinkPad X1 Carbon that should garnish any sort of negative praise, in my humble opinion its the perfect laptop. Yes as expected there is the usual high quality hardware, 3 GHz Intel Core i5-6300U CPU, 8GB of RAM, 256GB PCIe , but its the sturdy con-struct that impresses me the most. Made out of reinforced carbon fiber and super magnesium body, should withstand the rigors of frequent travel and even much challenging environments. Levono have always been known for its gold standard laptop keyboard. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon continues that tradition with its perfectly placed tactile keyboard.

Deal breaking feature?

Its tactile Keyboard.
