All Zotac 40 series graphics cards will now have 12VHPWR connector
Zotac is one of the leading manufacturers of aftermarket Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, which will now feature the new 12VHPWR connector. The 12VHPWR connector is a 12+4 pin power connector capable of delivering up to 600 W of power to the graphics card. The following RTX 40 series graphics cards that will include the 12VHPWR connector are the RTX 4070Ti, RTX 4080, and RTX 4090.
The 12VHPWR connector replaces the traditional 8-pin PCIe power connectors and can deliver up to 150 W each. Most power supplies do not have a 12VHPWR connector, at least not yet. However, Zotac will include an adapter cable that will convert three or four 8-pin PCIe connectors into one 12VHPWR connector. The downside to using the adapter is it's limited to 30 connect/disconnect cycles. Which means it’s for long-term use.
Zotac RTX 40 series are potent graphics cards with the latest ray-tracing, and DLSS features for optimal gaming performance. Prior connectors that were compatible with RTX 40 series graphics cards needed to be fixed. Many users reported the connectors would overheat and melt, causing damage to the graphics card. Some advantages of using the new 12VHPWR connector are that it simplifies the cabling required to power a high-end GPU, saves PC space on the GPU, handles unexpected spikes significantly better, and has more extended conductor terminals.
