Logitech Unveils MX Keypad Made for Developers
Logitech, known for its high-quality peripherals, has launched the MX Keypad, a dedicated hardware control center designed for developers who code in AI-assisted environments. While control pads like Elgato's Stream Deck are the go-to option for streamers, Logitech is targeting a different user base: people managing semi-autonomous coding agents. Modern software development is increasingly split between writing logic and supervising agents across multiple windows. According to Logitech, the MX Keypad will bring physical visibility and macro control to your desktop system.
What You Need to Know About Hardware and Interface
Logitech's new MX Keypad Dynamic LCD features 9 customizable full-color LCD buttons with physical paging, supporting up to 15 configurable pages (135 total shortcuts). The live Status feedback goes beyond triggering actions; the dynamic displays provide glanceable updates—showing states like "thinking" and "running," or "complete"—and handle prompt confirmations (such as yes-or-no permissions) directly on the hardware.
The MX Keypad connects via a detachable USB-C cable, minimizing latency and avoiding battery swapping. The keypad's overall design is made from post-consumer recycled plastic (64% graphite, 49% pale grey).
Aimed Specifically at AI Integration
Developed in collaboration with GitHub, the keypad will launch native support for VS Code and GitHub Copilot, alongside community and official plugins for Claude Code and IntelliJ IDEA. Users can configure one-touch commands for prompt execution, code refactoring, context switching, and background task monitoring. Logitech will also open up the Logi Actions SDK, enabling developers to build custom status trackers and CLI triggers directly into the Logi Marketplace.
